Self-Introduction
I have been living on Amami Island for 5 years since I moved to Yamato Village from Tokyo. I am in love with the beautiful island of Amami, and look forward to serving foreign visitors as a tour guide introducing places that are not on guide books.
I have been amazed not only by the major sightseeing places but also by the daily scenes of the island that are underestimated. Since I am not originally from Amami, I am able to see the island through the eyes of a tourist, which is a great quality for a tour guide.
In order to gain profound knowledge and experience as a guide, I became an OJT bus tour guide for Japan and I am learning a lot from the veteran bus tour guides about hospitality and entertainment necessary for making visitors happy and satisfied during their stay. I am sure my OJT experience will benefit guiding foreign visitors as well.
Besides culture, traditional music, dialect, and wildlife of the island, I have a special interest in making sweets. I am a member of a local baking group aiming to revitalize the community by producing and selling handmade cookies and snacks that are healthy and made from locally grown ingredients.
